Hymn

"Shall we then yield Him, in costly devotion
Odors of Edom and offerings divine
Gems of the mountain and pearls of the ocean
Myrrh from the forest, or gold from the mine?

Vainly we offer each ample oblation
Vainly with gifts would His favor secure
Richer by far is the heart's adoration
Dearer to God are the prayers of the poor"

Hymn

Phos Hilaron (Hymn to Christ the Light, an ancient hymn of the church)

O radiant Light, O Sun divine,
of God the Father's deathless face,
O image of the Light sublime,
that fills the heavenly dwelling place.

O Son of God, the source of life,
praise is your due by night and day.
Our happy lips must raise the strain
of your esteemed and splendid name.

Lord Jesus Christ, as daylight fades,
as shine the lights of eventide,
we praise the Father with the Son,
the Spirit blest and with them one.
